Above Ground Pool Deck Plans
An above ground pool needs a deck to make it
complete and functional. The deck can beautify as well
as act as a safety mechanism. Here are some things to
consider before deciding on an above ground deck plan.
1. Find what the zoning
laws are for your area. Not only will you need a permit from
your local building authority, you may also need to get the OK
from your home owners association.
2. The size. How much
space is available for the deck? What will go onto the deck?
Furniture? A slide? a Barbecue, or maybe a Hot Tub? Space out
the items that are intended to be placed on the deck to get a
general idea. Make is as large as space and funds allow.
3. The materials. Most
above ground pool decks are made of wood. But then there are
some more innovative ones that are made of stone...or
brick... there are also resins and other modern materials
that will require less maintenance and upkeep that wood.
4. Access to the deck.
How many stairs will be needed to easily access the pool? Will
the stairs require a railing? Will the entire deck require a
railing?
5. Amount of Sunshine. Before
deciding of the placement of the pool and deck, careful
consideration of how much sunlight the pool will get
should be taken. Remember also that the sun is in a different
position in the winter than in the summer... A pool that sits
too much in the shade will always be on the cool side, even in
the warmer states...
6. Design that will flow
with your existing property. Choose a design that will
harmonize with your existing property and garden. The color,
size, shape and material of your above ground pool deck should
add to, and beautify your property along with adding
functionality.
